The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Environmental Compliance to advance marine environmental protection, reduce pollution, and improve the permitting process for activities in the Red Sea region.
Key Objectives of the Partnership

- Enhance coordination in issuing environmental permits.
- Utilize electronic systems for efficient permit issuance and operational processes.

- Support coastal tourism through sustainable practices.
- Develop service and marina operation standards in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Improve responsiveness to environmental emergencies with better coordination.
- Build capacity and conduct training programs for effective environmental management.
- Raising Awareness:
- Launch initiatives to enhance environmental consciousness among stakeholders.
- Promote education programs focused on the Red Sea’s ecosystem.
The MoU, signed by Mohammed Al-Nasser, CEO of SRSA, and Eng. Ali Al-Ghamdi, CEO of the National Center for Environmental Compliance, aligns with SRSA’s mission to regulate marine tourism and navigation while ensuring environmental sustainability.
This collaboration aims to balance the region’s economic growth, tourism potential, and ecological health, setting a benchmark for sustainable coastal development in Saudi Arabia.
