- New Offshore Vessel to Expand ST Engineering’s Market Reach.
- Cutting-Edge W2W Vessel to Support Oil and Gas Operations.
- ST Engineering to Deliver Advanced 97-Metre Offshore Vessel.
ST Engineering reports that it has secured a shipbuilding contract to design and build a Walk-to-Work (W2W) vessel for a major oil and gas company. This is the company’s first foray into the market for specialised vessels designed to support offshore operations.
Special-Purpose Vessel for Offshore Support
The W2W vessel is designed with safety in mind for the transfer of personnel and other necessary supplies to the customer’s offshore installations. It will measure 97 metres in length and can accommodate 106 persons. The vessel will have an advanced motion-compensated gangway for safe transfers under severe sea conditions and a 10-ton crane with active heave compensation to facilitate efficient load handling under severe waters.
Commitment to Excellence
Mr Tan Leong Peng, President, Marine, ST Engineering, emphasised the company’s expertise and dedication: “Building a W2W vessel demands specialised expertise in marine engineering, advanced systems integration, and dynamic positioning – areas where we excel. Being selected after a rigorous evaluation process is a testament to our expertise, dedication to quality, and compliance with global standards.”
Completion and Track Record
The W2W vessel will be completed within the first half of 2027. With a wide variety of ships being delivered, this project further pushes the company into a more exciting field, that of patrol vessels for naval applications to superyachts for private clients. Apart from these fields, the company has also excelled in specialised vessel design and construction for offshore wind and oil and gas.
