In order to protest at a potential end of collective bargaining agreements, the stevedores union has announced a ten-day strike in the Portuguese ports of Lisbon, Setubal and Figueira da Foz.  The strike will be effective from November 14, 2015.

The strike will affect the third, fourth and fifth largest ports of Portugal while the largest port in Sines and the second-largest port in Portugal will not have any effect.

In the year 2012, a wider strike by the stevedores union against the labour law changes hindered the country’s exports as the country suffered economic and debt crisis.
