Strategic Marine has officially signed a landmark contract with Mainprize Offshore to construct six cutting-edge Supa Swath vessels, with an option for an additional six vessels, as reported by Strategic Marine. This agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Seawork, Europe’s largest on-water commercial marine and workboat exhibition, and builds on recent deliveries of the MO10 and MO11 vessels to Mainprize earlier this year. The new deal strengthens Mainprize’s fleet capabilities and expands their service offerings across Europe.
The Supa Swath vessels are designed for peak performance, offering advanced stability, reduced fuel consumption, and modern navigation and communication technologies. Known for their versatile design, these vessels are suited for a range of maritime operations including transportation, offshore support, and research. Their superior stability and efficiency make them ideal for challenging offshore environments, where fuel savings and safety are crucial.
Leaders Highlight Partnership’s Impact on Fleet and Innovation
Mainprize Offshore’s Managing Director, Bob Mainprize, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, viewing it as a key step forward in enhancing fleet capabilities. “The Supa Swath vessels represent a significant investment in the future of our fleet, offering superior performance and versatility,” he noted, adding that the collaboration aligns with Mainprize’s commitment to advancing maritime technology with reliable partners.
Echoing this sentiment, Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine, stated that the contract reflects the strong partnership between the two companies. Yew emphasized that the new vessels will significantly enhance Mainprize’s capabilities, particularly in the offshore renewables sector.
Delivery Timeline and Fleet Expansion
The first of the six vessels is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2026, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration. With these additions, Mainprize is set to expand its fleet to 17 vessels by the end of 2026, with the potential to reach 21 vessels by 2028 if additional options are exercised. This expanded fleet positions Mainprize to meet the growing operations and maintenance demands within the European offshore industry.
Track Record in Innovative Vessel Design
Strategic Marine’s recent successes, including the MO10 and MO11 vessels, demonstrate their track record in executing custom, high-tech vessel designs. As James Walker of Walker Marine Design highlighted, the Supa Swath design began as a “blank sheet of paper” concept with Mainprize in 2016, and today, eight such vessels operate across Europe. This latest contract reinforces Strategic Marine’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art solutions that meet evolving maritime needs.
