Suez Canal Ready for Largest Container Ships

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said that the Suez Canal is capable of accommodating large container ships.

Statement released:

Mohab Mamish, head of the SCA, said in a statement that; “Suez Canal succeeded in attracting the biggest ships in the world. The world’s fifth largest container ship transited the international waterway earlier in the day”.

Fifth largest container ship:

The fifth largest containership, named Mol, was traveling from Sri Lanka to the Moroccan port of Tanger-Med in an 11-hour voyage. The nine-floor vessel is about 400 meters long, 59 meters wide and 15.5 meters deep, transited the Suez Canal.

New development initiatives:

Mamish furthered, “SCA is keen on implementing development projects on a regular basis to keep pace with the latest developments in the field of maritime transport”.
