A Stena Line ferry collided with a tanker carrying 12,000 tons of fuel near Gothenburg, Sweden.  No injuries reported so far from the scene and no fuel spilt into the sea.  The accident happened near the Island of Vinga in the waterway leading towards Gothenburg’s harbor.  During the accident about 600 passengers were travelling in Stena Jutlandica.  Though the ferry’s hull was punctured, the vessel managed to enter the port with its own power.  Divers of Swedish Coast Guard are in the water checking the tanker’s damage and potential for an oil spill. The tanker is operated by Tern tank.

Mårtensson, deputy CEO of Stena Line, says: “It was the tanker that hit us, not the other way around.”
