On October 30, an oil tanker was reportedly attacked by pirates.
What happened?
The oil tanker ‘GP T2’ was attacked by pirates in the night of October 30, 2017, when it was sailing through the Singapore Strait about 6.5 miles northeast of Terumbu Betata.
Armed with weapons:
Five pirates armed with weapons approached the tanker in a speed boat and boarded it. They proceeded towards the engine room and tied up the duty oiler, stole some spare parts and fled in a small boat.
Pirates flee:
The captain of the tanker alerted the Singapore Vessel Traffic Information System, and the crew searched the ship, but no other intruders were found. The tanker continued sailing from Zhanjiang to Nansha.
