Tanker to Become LNG Bunkering Vessel

On November 11, Shell has reportedly signed contract with a Rotterdam based company Anthony Veder to convert a tanker to LNG bunkering vessel.

What happened?

The Shell has signed an agreement Anthony Veder headquartered in Rotterdam, to convert the multipurpose tanker ‘Coral Methane’ into an LNG bunkering vessel for Shell.

The modification is touted to be the first of its kind and will include certain LNG bunker equipments into the vessel.

Modifications to start in 2018:

The modifications on the tanker are set to begin in early 2018. The tanker is set to address the LNG bunkering demands across all of Europe and most probably operate in the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Design specifications:

The vessel will include an electric azimuth pod propulsion, which will offer maximum flexibility and high maneuverability, crucial for her operations in the Norwegian fjords.
