On May 4, a Facebook report from West African sources said that a product tanker titled TAMAYA I drifted ashore near Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County near Liberian coast.
The abandoned ship was discovered with no crew member inside and there were no sign of country of origin of the ship. Also there were no news related to this ship available hence nobody knows what possibly could have happened to the vessel in its voyage. There were no signs or reports of planned mass looting by pirates.
The Vessel’s final AIS signal was dated Apr 22, points near south of Dakar. But the vessel left Dakar to an unknown port of destination.
Could the pirates have taken the crew members hostage? Only the Coastguards, Police and Immigration Officials can find out the truth in the days to come.
We hope our Coastguards, Police and Immigration can speedily intervene to rescue the situation.
