AD Ports Group, a key enabler of global trade and logistics, has officially inaugurated the first phase of the Tbilisi Intermodal Hub in Georgia. As the country’s first modern bonded terminal, the facility is a strategic investment in the growing Middle Corridor trade route that connects Asia and Europe via Central Asia. The project supports the UAE’s broader vision of building sustainable, efficient, and high-impact trade infrastructure.
Georgia’s First Modern Intermodal Terminal
The Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is a state-of-the-art, rail-linked dry port handling container cargo via truck and rail. Developed in partnership with Inveco LLC and Wilhelmsen Group, the facility marks Georgia’s entry into global logistics with a bonded terminal that bridges the Caspian and Black Seas.
Strengthening the Middle Corridor
The logistics hub plays a pivotal role in the emerging Middle Corridor—a 7,000 km East-West trade route from China to Europe through Central Asia. With the expected cargo volume projected to triple by 2030, AD Ports Group’s investment aligns with global trade trends that favor overland alternatives to congested seaborne routes.
Expansion Plans Through 2026
By early 2026, the Tbilisi Intermodal Hub will expand to include long-term warehousing, additional container yards, truck parking, and a fourth railway spur. The full buildout will position the terminal as a regional logistics center for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and broader Central Asia, managing a variety of containerized and bulk commodities.
Strategic UAE–Georgia Collaboration
UAE officials, including Minister Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, highlighted the project as a symbol of international cooperation and shared prosperity. The joint venture reflects the UAE’s dedication to infrastructure-led diplomacy and economic growth through sustainable trade networks.
Operational Milestone and Future Outlook
The facility began soft operations on May 3 with the arrival of its first container shipment from the Black Sea port of Batumi. With customs authorization and the country’s first rail safety certification, the hub is set to boost trade flows across the Caucasus and solidify Georgia’s position as a logistics crossroads between Asia and Europe.
The launch of the Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is a critical milestone in AD Ports Group’s mission to build resilient trade corridors. By linking the Middle Corridor with its growing network in Türkiye and Pakistan, the UAE is facilitating faster, more reliable trade across Eurasia. As global logistics pivot toward land-based routes, Georgia’s new inland port stands ready to play a transformative role in the region’s economic future.
