Ten Arrested For Trying To Steal Oil Tanker

The Angolan authorities announced today the arrest of ten people, including two Angolans and seven foreigners, who tried to steal a Sonangol oil tanker using false purchase documents.

According to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the case is “an attempt to fraudulently steal an oil tanker called “Ngol Dande”, belonging to Sonangol Shipping, using false documents to buy the vessel.

The people involved, ten citizens aged between 29 and 38, including seven Nigerians, one Sierra Leonean and two Angolans, including a ship’s captain, sailors and two shipping agents, are accused of the crimes of criminal association, theft and use of false documents.

The SIC also announced the arrest of a Chinese citizen, accused of having broken the fiscal seal of a container without the presence of the customs authorities.
