On Wednesday, a large wooden fishing boat packed with hundreds of migrants overturned off the coast of Libya killing five people, reports say. The rest 562 migrants were rescued by the italian patrol ship Bettica, which was responding to a distress call of the vessel.
The delicate balance of a overcrowded shipping boat carrying hundreds of migrants turned into a frightening roll when the vessel flipped, sending migrants into the sea.
Navy frigate Bergamini deployed a helicopter and several rubber motor boats in the rescue operations, the crews tossed life jackets and rings into the churning water to save people. The rescue operation is reportedly concluded now.
