CIMAC Congress is held once every three years and attracts the best brains in the marine engines, marine fuels and lubricants industry. The 29th CIMAC Congress was held in Vancouver, Canada on 10-14 June. A senior representative from Viswa Group attended the Congress.
CIMAC Congress
CIMAC is one of the most important platforms for exchanging knowledge and information from experts in engine manufacturing industry, fuel experts, lubricant experts and experts in strategizing for the future from the Marine, Auto, Power Generation and Rail Industries.
What is the subject matter?
The theme of the Congress is to prepare for the 2050 GHG regulations and how the industry can innovate and transform itself to meet the goals.
A total of 331 papers were presented in 54 sessions in four parallel streams. Four poster sessions were also organized spanning over four days. There was also an exhibition and over 900 delegates participated in the proceedings.
Sustainable environmentally acceptable future
The presentations highlighted the latest developments & scientific research which will create the foundation for the next generation of engines.
The focus was how the industry has to prepare itself and make the changes to meet the GHG emission regulation goal to reduce overall emissions by 50%. This would necessitate paradigm changes in the Engine industry with reference to the fuels used and lubricants used.
The panel discussions and keynote address provided the perspectives to ensure a sustainable environmentally acceptable future.
Engine efficiency the primary goal
Mirroring the fact that engine efficiency has always been a primary goal of researchers and developers, a host of papers presented advances in traditional technologies with the potential to deliver useful contributions to GHG reduction via improved fuel efficiency.

Out of the 331 papers presented, the group has selected about 20 papers. A gist of these interesting, innovative and impactful papers will be presented in the next few technical updates.
