According to Dynagas LNG Partners, the German government has taken over the charters of Dynagas’ three LNG carriers, which were previously assigned to Russia’s Gazprom as reported by Splash247.

Contract subsidiaries

According to the Monaco-based company, the German government now effectively controls the 2007-built Ob River and Clean Energy as well as the 2008-built Amur River, which were contracted to a division of Russian energy giant Gazprom until 2026 and 2028, respectively.

Since taking over Gazprom Germania and all its subsidiaries, the indirect parent of Gazprom Marketing and Trading, a Singapore-based affiliate of Gazprom, the Federal Network Agency of Germany has been in charge of the vessels.

Security of gas supply

Six LNG carriers are part of the fleet of the US-listed Dynagas, all of which are entrusted to long-term charters with an average remaining contract period of six and a half years.

Earlier this year, Düsseldorf-based energy giant Uniper committed to building two FSRUs for the German government in 2021 under the management of Dynagas in order to diversify and boost the security of the country’s gas supply. Early in 2023, the FSRUs Transgas Force and Transgas Power will start operating.
