Tracking Rotterdam’s Bunker Hub Prices: The Latest Market Watch!

According to Bunkerspot Price Index (BPi) statistics, the price of high sulphate fuel oil (HSFO) at the Port of Rotterdam increased week over week, reaching a year-to-date high on Thursday (13 April), as reported by Bunker Spot.

Increased HSFO price

Over the course of the past week, the price of HSFO increased by $10, rising from $470 per metric tonne (p/mt) on April 10 to $480 p/mt today. The residual fuel grade’s price hit its highest level on Thursday at $483 per metric tonne (2 September 2022).

The HSFO at Rotterdam was $655 per month on April 18, 2022.

However, prices for very low sulphate fuel oil (VLSFO) and low sulphate marine petrol oil (LSMGO) declined week over week.

At the biggest bunker hub in Europe, the cost of VLSFO decreased by $5, falling from $590 per metric tote on April 10 to $585 today.

On 18 April 2022, VLSFO at Rotterdam was $869 p/mt.

The price of LSMGO fell $8, from $773 p/mt to $765 p/mt.

On 18 April 2022, LSMGO at Rotterdam was $1,198 p/mt.

The sales of conventional and bio-blended marine fuel oil and distillate products increased in 2022 at the Port of Rotterdam, the second-largest bunker port by sales volume.
