TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING INC., the Chinese base of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd., has successfully launched a methanol dual-fuel 5,900 TEU container carrier, the largest vessel of its kind built by the Group. The vessel was launched on August 27, 2025, and is scheduled for delivery in February 2026, according to TSUNEISHI.

Advancing Sustainable Shipbuilding

The launch of the methanol dual-fuelled 5,900 TEU container carrier represents a significant step forward in TSUNEISHI’s efforts toward carbon-neutral shipping. Designed with improved hull form and equipped with the Group’s proprietary MT-FAST energy-saving technology, the vessel achieves greater propulsion efficiency and fuel performance. It can accommodate up to 5,915 TEU containers, including 1,400 refrigerated units, meeting the growing demand for refrigerated transport. Both the main engine and on-board generators, including the HiMSEN 8H32DF-LM engine from HD Hyundai, are capable of operating on methanol fuel. The ship is also fitted with large-capacity shore power systems, allowing generators to be shut down while in port to further reduce emissions. Developed with the concept of a “final solution” toward zero CO₂ emissions, the vessel demonstrates TSUNEISHI’s commitment to advancing clean-energy solutions.

Mr. Murakami Yoshifumi, President and Director of TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING INC., emphasized that the launch marks a historic milestone for the company. He highlighted the shipyard’s dedication to building environmentally responsible next-generation vessels while maintaining safety and quality. With a vision of fostering harmony between people and the environment, he reaffirmed the Group’s mission to contribute to a sustainable future through innovative shipbuilding practices.
