In a strategic move to strengthen its fleet, Turkey’s Stella Tanker Shipping Co., Ltd. signed a contract on August 23, 2025, with Zhejiang Yongxin Shipping Co., Ltd. Shipyard in Taizhou, China, for the construction of 3+1 units of 7,300 DWT duplex stainless steel chemical tankers, as reported by Sea News.
Stella Tanker Expands Fleet with Next-Generation Chemical Tankers
The newbuilding contract marks a significant milestone in Stella Tanker’s growth strategy and long-term investment in the global maritime sector. Each of the 7,300 DWT vessels is specifically designed to transport a wide range of specialized chemical and petroleum products safely and efficiently.
These tankers will be built to meet the latest technological and environmental standards, fully complying with IMO regulations such as the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII). Equipped with energy-efficient systems, the vessels will reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, supporting sustainable shipping practices. The duplex stainless steel cargo tanks will further enhance operational flexibility and efficiency, allowing the safe carriage of diverse and demanding cargoes.
Stella Tanker Chairman, Capt. Coşkun Ağca, emphasized that this agreement aligns with the company’s fleet modernization and capacity expansion goals. “These next-generation duplex chemical tankers combine operational excellence, eco-friendly technology, and the highest safety standards,” he said. “Their addition to our fleet will allow us to offer clients more flexible, reliable, and sustainable logistics solutions, strengthening our market position.”
Ağca also acknowledged the contributions of Milestone International Shipbuilding Development Co. Ltd. and Yaf Group as brokers and highlighted the joint supervision of the project by Milestone and Stella Tanker technical teams, demonstrating the company’s commitment to technical expertise and quality.
The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027, with the remaining ships expected to join the fleet and enter active service by mid-2027.
