Two bulk carriers collided in China’s Yangtze River, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said, adding that no injuries to the crew were reported, according to Reuters.
Oil Spill
While both vessels remain stable, one of them sustained hull damage and spilled approximately 9 metric tonnes of fuel oil. It is currently anchored at Hengsha East Anchorage for further assessment. The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) is leading the clean-up efforts following a fuel oil spill in the Yangtze River. The MSA is working alongside the vessel owner to contain the spill and minimize environmental impact.
