At the time of the accident, the ultra large container ship Hong Kong Express and the general cargo ship BBS Sky were travelling on the northern direction. The ships collided when they tried to overtake one another.
No damage was reported by the container carrier but the general cargo ship had a small scratch above the waterline. The ship still remained seaworthy and both the vessels continued their voyage. The vessels were allowed to resume voyages as it estimated only minor damages. The local authorities were informed and the ships will be inspected in the next port of call.
