Two Vessels Collide Near Ningbo; 1 Dead, 3 Injured

A collision between two vessels near Yangmao Island, Ningbo, in the early hours of 30 March resulted in the sinking of a bulk carrier, leaving one person dead and three injured, reports iMarine News.

According to the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration, the accident occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. when a container vessel collided with a bulk carrier. The impact caused the bulk carrier to sink rapidly.

Rescuers managed to save all 13 crew members who fell into the water, though one was found without vital signs. Three others sustained injuries and were hospitalized, while the remaining nine were reported safe. The container vessel remained afloat and was later anchored for further investigation.

Authorities have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Reports indicate that the bulk carrier sank within five minutes of impact, underscoring the severity of the crash.
