Two Workers Killed, Several Injured In Shipyard Accident In Turkey

A tragic accident occurred at a shipyard in Turkey, claiming the lives of two workers and leaving several others injured. The incident took place while a cargo vessel was undergoing repair work, resulting in the vessel tipping over during maintenance operations.

Sudden Capsize During Repair Work

According to initial reports, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on 9 October at a shipyard located within the Tuzla Shipyards complex. The vessel suddenly listed to one side while under repair, causing some workers to fall into the water, while others were struck by falling components and heavy machinery parts.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Rescue operations were immediately launched as emergency teams, including medical personnel, firefighters, Coast Guard units, and police, arrived on site to assist the injured. Two workers tragically lost their lives, and several others were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Authorities have initiated a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures during ship repair operations. As investigations continue, authorities are expected to focus on identifying the root cause and strengthening safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
