U.S. container imports from 10 key Asian economies reached 1.86 million TEUs in August, marking a 4.1% year-on-year increase. On a month-to-month basis, volumes eased by 2.9%. For the first eight months of the year, total imports from these economies stood at 13.63 million TEUs, up 3.5%, as reported in Container News.

China maintained its position as the leading source of U.S. container imports, though volumes declined 5.5% to 994,958 TEUs in August. In contrast, Vietnam recorded a strong 40.4% increase, reaching 260,897 TEUs, while India saw a 33% rise to 89,596 TEUs. South Korea and Japan both experienced declines, with imports dropping 9.8% to 191,073 TEUs and 7.3% to 32,886 TEUs, respectively. Overall, U.S. imports totaled 2.54 million TEUs in August, reflecting a 3.5% year-on-year gain.
