U.S. Shipping Corp. Names New CEO

Jones Act tanker owner U.S. Shipping Corporation has promoted its CFO, Albert Bergeron, to replace outgoing CEO Michael Ryan as chief executive.

Associated since 2002:

Bergeron has been with U.S. Shipping since its founding in 2002 and has over two decades of experience in the maritime sector. Mr. Ryan is taking a position with another company, and U.S. Shipping will be hiring a replacement CFO shortly.

Statement released:

“On behalf of the Board and the management team, I would like to thank Mike Ryan for his leadership over the past 5 years and wish him well in his future position. I would also like to thank the Board for giving me the privilege to lead U.S. Shipping,” Bergeron said. “We will continue to focus on the transportation basics of uncompromising safety and compliance, executing the most cost efficient ways to manage our valuable service product and developing long term relationships with clients.”

U.S. Shipping Corporation:

U.S. Shipping Corporation is a petroleum transportation provider with two product tankers and four petroleum/chemical ATBs, and its primary service area covers the East Coast, Gulf Coast, and Puerto Rico. It was founded as a subsidiary of Hess in 2002 with the name of U.S. Shipping Partners, and it changed to its current name in 2009. It has received numerous safety and environmental quality awards, including the well-regarded Rear Adm. William M. Benkert Environmental Protection Award.
