Ukrainian exports through the Black Sea corridor are set to rise to 5 million metric tons in December from 3.8 million tons in November, reports XM.

Alternative Route Background

Launched in August along the western Black Sea coast near Romania and Bulgaria due to Moscow’s withdrawal from the U.N. grain export deal and threats towards vessels.

Export Volumes

Deputy Infrastructure Minister Yuriy Vaskov shared October’s 2 million tons and September’s 280,000 tons via the new route, while the UN-brokered corridor saw a max of 4.2 million tons in October 2022.

Total Cargo and Ship Increase

Since August, 241 ships exported 8.6 million tons of cargo (6 million being agricultural goods). Ship numbers rose from 52 in October to 110 in November.

Grain Export Outlook

Ukraine, a significant global grain producer, targets a grain exportable surplus of 50 million tons for the 2023/24 July-June season. As of Dec. 8, the country had already exported 13.9 million tons of grain.
