The Underwater pictures of a 100 year old sunken ship in Scotland is taking the internet up in storm, reports the MiceTimesAsia

What happened?

Fearless photographer Becky Kagan SCHOTT (Becky Kagan Schott) with her talented team descended to the bottom of a cold lake superior in the USA to photograph the sunken 107 years ago the first ship, The Gunilda — a 60-metre long vessel built in the Scottish city Lit.

The team managed to dive to a depth of about 82 meters.

Inside the ship

Becky who is a professional underwater photographer, said her favorite photo — room with a piano. Becky could easily imagine how this room looked before it was flooded.

According to Becky, the wreck remarkably well preserved, which is unusual for such a long stay under water.

“It was like time travel. In all the years of work and filming of sunken ships I’ve never seen. We swam up to the Windows and saw a piano still stood in its place, a table for card games and turned towards the fireplace and chairs hanging on the wall clock, crockery with gold. The spectacle is impressive”.

The Challenging Task

Not many divers venture to get to the ship Gunilda due to the remote location of the lake, depth and low water temperature. So for this shoot, it took a brave first-class divers.

“We only had 25 minutes at depth, to capture this beauty. Another 75 minutes we floated to the surface. Such a challenging dive should be well-coordinated, like a dance”.

“At the bottom of the lake in absolute darkness, which greatly complicates communication and movement”.
