Helicopters Helped in ‘De-bunkering’ the Grounded Bulker

Bunker lightering operations are underway in Mauritius from the grounded bulker Benita.

  • Risky transfer of oil via hoses Avoided.
  • Plastic chemical transport tanks Loaded with oil & airlifted via helicopters.
  • Out of 145 tons, nearly thirty tons of fuel have been reportedly removed.

Mauritian authorities are working on clean up operations in the beaches near the site of the grounding, resulting out of a fuel tank breach.
