Last month, a US special operations team intercepted a vessel in the Indian Ocean that was making its way from China to Iran, seizing military-related items, as reported by various media outlets citing US officials, reports Reuters.
Cargo Seizure
According to one US official, the cargo contained components that could potentially be utilised in Iran’s conventional weapons programs, and the seized materials were subsequently destroyed.
Location and Outcome
The boarding occurred several hundred miles off the coast of Sri Lanka. After the operation, the vessel was permitted to continue its journey.
