USCG receives new application for Ballast Water Management System type approval, says an article published in Safety4Sea.
Application for BWMS type approval
The US Coast Guard Marine Safety Centre (MSC) received an application for Ballast Water Management System type approval for the Seascape Ballast Water Management System manufactured by Elite Marine Corp.
MSC will review the application for compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations in 46 CFR 162.060. Once it has been determined that the application meets the requirements, the MSC will issue a type approval certificate.
USCG issues its 34th BWMS type approval
The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center issued the 34th U.S. Coast Guard Ballast Water Management System Type Approval Certificate to Kuraray Co., Ltd., after a detailed review of the manufacturer’s type approval application determined the system met the requirements of 46 CFR 162.060.
Treatment principle that won the approval
The treatment principle of the Kuraray MICROFADE II Ballast Water Treatment System consists of filtration with chemical injection treatment at uptake and neutralization during discharge.
This approval covers six models with maximum treatment rated capacities between 250 m 3 /h and 2,000 m 3 /h.

Ltd., BAWAT A/S, NKBMS Co. Ltd, Techcross, Inc. have won the USCG type approval.
