USGC Airlifts Pinoy Seafarer

A Pinoy seafarer with suspected heart attack was airlifted by USCG from Wilhelmsen car carrier

The US Coast Guard(USCG) airlifted a 54-year-old Filipino on Norwegian car carrier Tijuca (30,089 dwt, built 2008).  The vessel owned by Wilh. Wilhelmsen was traveling off the North Carolina coast.  On Thursday night, the crew member had an episode while the ship was 30 miles south of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

USCG rescue crew from the coast guard base Elizabeth City rescued the seafarer from the 750-foot long vessel with the help of a helicopter.  They flew him to Beaufort, North Carolina where local paramedics took him to the Craven Regional Medical Centre in New Bern.
