The World Health Organization’s technical advisory group said on Tuesday that current COVID-19 vaccinations may need to be adjusted to ensure that they are effective against novel strains like Omicron as reported by Reuters.

“…the composition of current COVID-19 vaccinations may need to be changed to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines continue to provide WHO-recommended levels of protection against infection and illness by VOCs, including Omicron and future variations,” the WHO stated in a statement to journalists.
