Vessel Carrying 1,000 Cars Runs Aground Off Sweden

On July 24, a cargo vessel carrying 1000 cars ran aground due to navigation issues in Sweden.

What happened?

The Panama-flagged cargo vessel ‘Makassar Highway’ was enroute to the port of Sodertalje, south of Stockholm when it ran aground in Sweden and left traces of oil in the sea.

The vessel loaded with 1000 cars ran aground after navigating on a wrong route for several hours before getting stuck.

Investigation launched

An investigation has been initiated into the incident and the Swedish officials are surveying the damages sustained by the vessel after it ran aground.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that a crew member was found intoxicated while on duty.
