Vessel Detained by Authorities Over Drunken Crew Members

A bulker was reportedly held by authorities after its crew members were found in a drunken state.

What happened?

The bulker’s journey was delayed after Danish authorities found some of its crew to be over the limit for alcohol. The bulker was reported en route from Szczecin to Alvik.

The Danish navy investigated after a seafarer sounded drunk during radio contact with the 2,600-dwt Wilson Bergen off Amager.

Doctor called in for tests:

A security officer at the armed forces operations centre said that police official and a doctor were called to the vessel, where some crew, including officers and the master, tested positive for alcohol.

The crew was made to sleep off the alcohol and the ship was released the next day.
