The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was notified at around 1:30 PM local time on Monday, April 14, about a sunken ship off Tuas Harbour, reports Baird Maritime.
No Crew Aboard at Incident Time
Offices confirmed that there were no crew members on board the ship when it sank. There were no reports of injury or pollution, and the port operations at the location remain unaffected.
Safety Precautions and Navigational Warning Issued
A navigational warning has been made to inform passing ships to avoid the affected area. Three patrol boats have also been sent to the location to aid in safety and response initiatives.
Salvage Operations Underway in Preparation
Preparations to initiate salvage operations are presently underway. The parties involved are in the process of coordinating with relevant authorities to have the sunken ship removed safely from the location.
Investigation Underway
The MPA is examining the cause of the incident and will keep the situation under close watch. It is collaborating with all concerned parties to provide a safe and efficient resolution.
