[Video] A Massive Oil Tanker Might Have Sailed Over a Car Wreck

1983

On early Saturday, four members of a British indie band with their manager were killed when their vehicle smashed through a bridge barrier and into the water below.  Reports speculate that the massive oil tanker might have sailed over the band’s car wreck moments after it plummeted off a bridge that had opened to allow vessel through, as the captain thought that it could be a lump of snow.

“There was no way we could have known if we had driven over a car.  The vessel is much too large for that.” Spokesman for Sirius shipping.

  • The band could have survived the initial impact of the 25 metre fall from the bridge and instead been killed by the passing boat.
  • The ship’s crew should have alerted them after spotting the object floating in the waterway.
  • If the Captain had noticed, the crew would have responded differently.

In a statement issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth office, the family of guitarist Mr Reeves said: “We are all heartbroken following River’s tragic death and the circumstances which have seen him lose his life alongside the bandmates and manager he adored and loved being with.  Viola Beach were on such an exciting journey and River could not have been happier. He would have loved to have stuck around for the party.”
