BGN is strengthening its commitment to LPG/ammonia trades by securing two out of approximately 15 very large gas carriers (VLGCs). These vessels are set for construction at shipyards affiliated with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, reports Splash.

Key Deal Details

Multiple brokers have associated the Dubai-based energy trader with a significant transaction at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. This deal involves the acquisition of two 88,000 cubic meter VLGCs, totaling an estimated value of $236 million.

Investment in Emission-Optimized Vessels

In line with its strategic vision, BGN continues to invest in new builds, aligning with its trading business objectives. The company aims to enhance the emissions performance of its vessels dedicated to the transportation of commodities.

Previous Partnership Success

Notably, BGN, in collaboration with Pertamina International Shipping, recently expanded its VLGC fleet with two LPG/ammonia new builds. These vessels were constructed at the reputable Hyundai Samho shipyard.

Future Expansion Plans

While the company has yet to officially confirm the order for the latest LPG dual-fuel duo, these vessels are expected to be delivered from Ulsan in 2027, contributing to BGN’s sustained growth in the maritime trading sector.
