  • Value Maritime developed a small prefabricated, pre-installed, “plug and play” scrubber.
  • The 9.0MW scrubber is hybrid ready and a closed-loop module can be delivered optionally.
  • The scrubber can be easily be placed and taken off from a vessel and be used on another vessel.
  • The total cost for the scrubber system including installation is far lower than that of other existing scrubber retrofits.

Value Maritime developed a small prefabricated, pre-installed, plug and play EGCS in a 30ft transportable casing suitable for vessels with a 9.0MW engine, says a press release published on their website.

A greener alternative for retrofit scrubbers

With the new regulations of IMO2020 getting closer, the system is a good alternative for many vessels for whom traditional retrofit scrubber installations are not an option.

It is the Greenest Scrubber in the market which Filters both Sulphur and ultrafine particulate matter. It secures compliance with IMO 0,1% Sulphur cap (SECA). The VM 9.0MW is hybrid ready and a closed-loop module can be delivered optionally.

By Installing a Value Maritime Installation, shipping companies have the greenest solution compared to MGO in CO2 reduction 2tons per MW per day (15.000 km with a diesel car), Particulate Matter PM10 (99% reduction) / PM2.5 (>90% Reduction) and Sulphur (99% reduction).

Plug and play scrubber

The plug and play scrubber from Value Maritime does not become part of the ship. The container including scrubber and all monitoring and control equipment can easily be placed and taken off from a vessel and be used on another vessel. The scrubber can, therefore, be pledged and financed separately from the current vessel financing.

The fact that the Value Maritime scrubber can be financed separately from the vessel, and that it can be taken off and placed on another vessel or sold, means that there are more options for shipowners and charter parties to solve this dilemma. For example, the owner of the scrubber no longer has to be the shipowner. It can be the charter party or a leasing party that buys the scrubber themselves.

Efficient installation costs

Of course, there will still be installation costs to prepare the vessel and place the scrubber; but thanks to the Plug and Play system these costs are limited. (Eur 150,000-200,000)

The all-inclusive modular concept supports financing arrangements independent from the present ship’s financing. Making lease for the Value Maritime scrubber a viable and interesting option.

The standardizations and simplicity of the plug and play system, the total cost for the scrubber system including installation is far lower than that of other existing scrubber retrofits.

Plug and play scrubber installed onboard four vessels

After a successful experience with the scrubber on the Lady Hester, it was time to outfit Lady Helene, Lady Dawn, Lady Diane and Lammy with the same EGCS system from Value Maritime. All four ships will be outfitted with a 3.0MW Value Maritime scrubber solution.

Founded in 1855, Wijnne Barends is one of the world’s oldest shipping companies. Proud of their past, they live entirely in the present. Decisive and creative. At Wijnne Barends a ‘can do’ mentality prevails: challenges are there to be taken up and maritime logistics issues to be solved.
