Wallenius Wilhelmsen To Transform Port Of Gothenburg Into Nordic Logistics Hub

13

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is set to take over terminal operations at the Port of Gothenburg starting February 2026. With a 12-year contract in place, the company aims to collaborate closely with the port to build an integrated, customer-focused “one-stop-shop” logistics hub that supports carriers and customers across Scandinavia.

A Strategic Step Toward Seamless Supply Chains

According to John Felitto, COO of Logistics Services at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, managing the Gothenburg terminal is more than just operational—it’s a strategic milestone. The partnership will enable the company to expand its logistics network, enhance service offerings, and co-create a centralized hub for the Scandinavian market.

Felitto emphasized that the move will amplify operational capabilities in the region and allow both Wallenius Wilhelmsen and the Port of Gothenburg to deliver efficient, innovative logistics solutions tailored to customer needs.

Location Advantage and Multimodal Connectivity

The Port of Gothenburg’s strategic location offers built-in benefits, including access to rail and road distribution channels, which further strengthens its hub potential. These multimodal links make it easier to connect with key inland destinations and enable faster, more flexible cargo movement throughout the Nordics.

With Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s expertise and the port’s infrastructure, the terminal is expected to streamline logistics operations and improve reliability and responsiveness for carriers and customers alike.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s new role as terminal operator at the Port of Gothenburg signals a bold move toward integrated, sustainable logistics in Scandinavia. With strong infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and a shared vision for innovation, this partnership is poised to redefine port operations and elevate service quality across the region.
