Warship to Fight Pirates Off Atlantic

On September 13, Russia dispatched its warship to fight against pirate attacks on the Atlantic Sea.

What happened?

The Warship ‘Alexander Otrakovsky’, a large landing ship from Russian Northern Fleet has been dispatched on mission to curb piracy and terrorist activity in the Atlantic Ocean.

Fleet Spokesman Captain First Rank Vadim Serga said, “While on the mission, the large landing ship will travel to important areas of the ocean,” he pointed out. “Its priorities are to ensure maritime security and Russia’s maritime economic activities, as well as to respond to the threats of the present day, such as piracy and international terrorism”.

Joint exercises:

The ship’s crew have also decide to hold routine defence and damage control exercises to hone their skills which will prove beneficial on long sea missions.
