Wartsila And KCC Sign An Agreement To Uplift Fuel Savings

Wartsila EnergoProFin has been secured for the CABU boats MV Bakkedal, MV Bangor, and MV Bantry, according to a contract signed by Klaveness Combination Carriers “KCC” and Wartsila as reported KCC.

New installations

The device replaces each vessel’s propeller boss and is supplied with custom-made fins to counteract any vortex generated by the boss cap, minimising vessel drag.

The device, which will be installed on KCC’s vessels, is projected to save about 2% to 3% in fuel and is compatible with the Becker Mewis Duct, which will also be installed on these vessels. Both devices are expected to be installed during the dry dockings of these ships in 2022.

The Wartsila EnergoProFin was previously installed on the sister vessels MV Barcarena and MV Banastar, and the reaction from those installations was good. All five CABU I vessels built between 2001 and 2007 will be equipped with the technology as a result of this order.
