  • Wärtsilä is launching a minimum viable product (MVP) to offer continuous fleet-wide insight regarding the vessel compliance and scrubber utilisation.
  • The product uses artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and advanced diagnostics, along with the knowledge and experience of product experts.
  • The holistic approach of the product uses ideal methods to detect potential issues in asset operating data and allows experts to offer actionable advice to customers.

Marine technology group Wärtsilä has extended its offering of Expert Insight, a digital predictive maintenance product for scrubbers and 2-stroke engines, reports the company’s website.

Expert Insight – Digital predictive product

Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight digital predictive maintenance product, which applies artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and rule-based diagnostics to maintenance management, has been extended to now offer support for two-stroke engines.

Originally launched in November 2019, Expert Insight is available in combination with Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Solutions offering.

The AI-powered system is used to detect potential issues in asset operating data and provide actionable advice proactively to the owner in support of predictive maintenance strategies, whereby the health and efficiency of the equipment form the basis of maintenance activities.

MVP version for scrubbers

Wärtsilä is also releasing a minimum viable product (MVP) version of the system for scrubbers to provide continuous fleet-wide insight into vessel compliance and scrubber utilisation.

This includes automated non-compliance incident reporting, scrubber usage statistics, and a live compliance map. The predictive maintenance features for scrubbers will be released at a later stage, the company says.

The launch of Expert Insight last year took predictive maintenance to the next level, allowing us to detect a greater percentage of issues than previously, and at an even earlier stage,” adds Frank Velthuis, Director Digital Product Development, Wärtsilä.

This enables the experts in our Expertise Centres to deliver fast and proactive advice to customers, thus increasing operational uptime.”
