Wärtsilä To Supply Cargo Handling Systems For Three Gas Carriers At Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, a division of the technology group Wärtsilä, has secured an order to supply cargo handling systems for three 45,000 m³ gas carrier vessels under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), Korea. The order was placed by HMD and booked in Q1 2025.

Ship Owners and Project Scope

  • Two vessels have been ordered by Purus, a ship owner/operator based in Singapore and Hong Kong.
  • One vessel has been contracted by Pasco Gas, headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • Both companies have previously ordered similar vessels fitted with Wärtsilä’s cargo handling systems.

Wärtsilä’s Expertise and Long-Term Partnership with HMD

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions is a leading provider of cargo handling and reliquefaction systems for gas carriers of various sizes. The company has a long-standing relationship with HMD, having supplied systems for over 15 medium-sized gas carriers built at the yard over the past decade.

Project Timeline

  • Wärtsilä’s cargo handling systems will be delivered to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard starting in late 2025.
  • The project further strengthens Wärtsilä’s presence in the growing gas carrier segment, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in maritime transport.
