[Watch] 25 Kilos of Cocaine Seized On Board a Bulk Carrier

  • Anti-narcotics division and Coast Guard seized 25 kilos of cocaine from a bulk carrier.
  • Master and senior officers of the Japanese capesize bulk carrier detained.
  • Involvement of the crew including Captain and senior officers yet to be confirmed. 

Cocaine worth $6.8 million was seized from Japanese capesize bulk carrier by the anti-narcotics division of the Turkish police and the coast guard on Aug. 22, reports Maritime Bulletin.

Cocaine bust

Capesize bulk carrier FRONTIER FALCON was berthed at Icdas port, Turkey, Marmara sea, late Aug 19 on arrival from Colombia. 

Joint search

  • A joint team of police anti-narcotics division and Coast Guard, searched the ship’s hull on Aug 22.
  • They found a container or a box, attached to the hull in the aft section. 

Cocaine packages

  • Box contained packages with cocaine, totaling 25 kilos.
  • Hull inspection with deployment of divers was to be continued. 

Crew detained

According to reports, 7 crew including Captain were detained, in the process of procuring the packages from the box.  

Involvement of the crew including Captain and senior officers has not yet been confirmed.
