A container ship crashed into Pier 2 of North Harbor, Manila, early in the morning Aug 10, reports Maritime Bulletin.
What happened?
Container ship OCEAN ABUNDANCE rammed into Pier 2 of North Harbor, Manila. The accident took place early in the morning Aug 10, while she was maneuvering to berth.
Cause of accident
Engine reverse control malfunction was said to be the cause of the accident.
Damage reported
- Pier was reported to be severely damaged.
- Container ship’s fore starboard hull was severely damaged.
- The portside was also damaged but the extent remains unknown.
Remained stuck
According to reports, the ship remained stuck in the pier for quite some time after the accident.
