The Farne Islands are an archipelago in the North Sea, and on June 30, a diver acquired a new companion while hanging out beneath the water.
Ben Burville, a scuba diver who practises medicine in the coastal Northumberland town of Amble by day, has developed a relationship with the local seal population after nearly 20 years of diving with them.
He tweeted a video of the endearing meeting with a wild grey seal, which he claimed to have only recently come across.
Before last week, I had never encountered a wild grey seal, Burville tweeted. “Occasionally, while on a dive, we just stop and rest for a while.”
