According to an article published in Chicago Tribune, Chicago firefighters rescued a crew member of a salt ship after he fell Tuesday afternoon into the hold of the ship on the Calumet River.
What happened?
Emergency responders were called to near the 10600 block of South Burley Avenue a little before 2 p.m. for the rescue near the Calumet River, according to the Fire Department.
The crew member fell 100 feet into the ship’s cargo hold and suffered fractures, but was reported to be in good condition after his rescue.

The person injured was brought out of the ship via a crane. Video from the scene showed a person on a stretcher being lowered to near an ambulance on a dock via a cable, with a firefighter in a harness alongside the stretcher. Firefighters then surround the person.
