According to an article published in Maritime Bulletin, a cargo carrier with container gantry cranes collided with a bridge.

What happened?

The heavy cargo carrier ‘Wish Way’ with two onboard container gantry cranes collided with a bridge when it was passing under it.

The gantry cranes collided with Queen Juliana Bridge when the ship was passing under the Bridge.

Cranes reportedly deemed safe

Though the height of the crane was reported to be 2/3 of the projected height and was deemed to be safe to pass under the bridge.

The Bridge traffic was suspended for some time but was later re-opened, damages were not serious.

Crane damaged

The cranes were reportedly, badly damaged, and that’s bad news for Curacao’s economy because old cranes often break down and are incapable of handling container ships without delays and disruptions.
