A cargo vessel, loaded with 3600 tons of timber and construction machinery, started listing some 148 miles off Cape Ortegal, Galicia, in the Bay of Biscay. The vessel listed some 50 degrees due to unpleasant weather and the shift of the cargo aboard the vessel.
Unfortunately, the salvage team could not decide for the towing due to the weather conditions. But the French Navy along with the rescue tug Abeille Bourbon and SMIT salvage team aboard the ship monitors the situation.
The authority said that the operations to remove the vessel from this major shipping lane would be undertaken as soon as possible.
