On July 9, a judge suspended the captain of the Portland Spirit cruise ship for causing a collision when he for ran into other boats during a traffic jam.
What happened?
The subsequent collision forced the shutdown of the Redbull Flugtag competition two years ago.
The Captain Lowell Gillespie Jr., was deemed guilty by an administrative law judge for the U.S. Coast Guard. The judge also ruled that the captain violated a navigation rule by failing to take appropriate actions to avoid collisions during the event held on August 1, 2015.
Vessel operation to suspended:
The Captains credentials were suspended for a month and he would serve probation for a year following the suspension.
