A salvage team’s effort to refloat a massive cargo ship proved to be futile after the 185m long vessel sank en route to India for demolition.
The vessel sank at a charted depth of 4400 m on Saturday, prompting the tug Ionian Sea FOS to cut the Benita loose in anticipation of its imminent sinking.
