The heavily damaged wreck of the “Coxswain” was raised by the sheerleg “Matador 2” on May 28 at 4.30 p.m. from the bottom of the Dordtsche Kil which had to be closed for ship traffic for about two hours.
Also the car which had been stored on deck and which had drifted 150 meters away was pulled out of the water by a crane ship. The wreck was towed to the scrap harbour at ‘s-Gravendeel.
The fairway had been re-opened until the operation started already on May 27. On May 28 Rijkswaterstaat will be looking for 70 hatch covers which were still resting on the bottom of the river.
The 340 tons of fertilizer also must be salvaged because it is clumped in the channel Dutch reports.
